Pennsylvania Partnerships for Children’s Joan Benso Professional Development Fund supports nonprofit leaders in Pennsylvania’s child-serving fields to enhance their management and leadership skills. This year, Karen Lehman was among six individuals to receive the award. Karen is the Youth Development Program Manager at the Center. She began working at the Center in 2005 as program coordinator for the ELECT initiative, bringing with her years of experience working with teen parents in Lancaster County school districts. She currently manages the homeless, foster care and ELECT initiatives, the 21st Century Community Learning Centers afterschool program and the Migrant Education Program.
Supervision of staff is one of the components of her job that Karen enjoys most and she plans to use the scholarship to attend Leadership Essentials, a Cornell University Online Certificate Program. The scholarship fund is supported by Grable Foundation, the Heinz Endowments and the William Penn Foundation.
Congratulations, Karen!
