2023 Refugee Education Summit

The 2023 Refugee Education Summit: Creating Belonging in Schools and Communities is a one and half-day training for Pennsylvania educators and community staff who work with refugee students. Plan to attend to learn more about understanding, supporting, and engaging newcomer students and their families.

Pennsylvania educators and community staff who work with refugee students and their families such as:

  • Refugee School Impact (RSI) Program administrators and staff.
  • Afghan Refugee School Impact (ARSI) Program administrators and staff.
  • Afghan Refugee School Impact Support to Schools (ARSI S2S) Initiative grantees.
  • English Language Development (ELD) and ESL teachers/staff.
  • School counselors and school social workers.
  • Intermediate Unit staff working with refugee programs.
  • Community organizations working with refugee students.
  • Out-of-school time (OST) programs serving refugee students.
  • Other educators and community staff seeking best practices and strategies to support the education of refugee students.

2023 EMPOWER OST Conference

Lancaster, Pennsylvania

EMPOWER 2023 will offer professional development focused on out-of-school time (OST) programming. Pennsylvania and national experts will present the latest research and trends in OST programming, OST programming, STEM, mental health, advocacy, youth voice and much more.

Afterschool administrators, enrichment providers, teachers, social workers, youth development workers, summer learning staff, early childhood professionals, student support specialists, higher education staff, business and industry partners and other professionals who work on behalf of children and youth outside of school hours are encouraged to attend.

The 2023 Pennsylvania EMPOWER OST Conference is a Nita M. Lowey 21st CCLC nationally approved conference. Pre-approval from your program officer is required to attend.
