The Center for Schools and Communities (CSC) is committed to respecting your right to privacy. Our goal is to provide transparency concerning the information we collect, use, share, and safeguard during our in-person and virtual officially operated events, and the control that you maintain over your information.

In that the CSC and its services may change from time to time this privacy notice is expected to also change. We reserve the right to modify the notice at any time, for any reason. We will post the “Effective Date” at the bottom of the notice. We encourage you to periodically review the notice for the latest information.
Type of Information We Collect
Personal Information We Collect
We collect information that enables the CSC to identify or contact you to carry out its business purposes (Personal Information). Examples of business reasons include, but are not limited to, applying for membership, registering for a CSC event or program, purchasing CSC services, or interacting with the CSC. We collect the information that you provide directly to us online, by phone or on paper.
Depending on the event, whether you are a presenter, attendee, exhibitor, or other participant, and depending on the electronic form that is used, we may collect or require some of the information from the following list when you sign up for an event:
- First and last name – including prefix and suffix, and pronouns of choice
- School or organization affiliation
- Physical address – such as school and/or home
- Email address – such as professional and/or home
- Phone number and fax number
- Social media profile information
- Copies of identification documents
- Education and professional information
- Purchasing and payment information (such as bill reminders, order confirmations, program registrations and service messages). The CSC does not retain credit card numbers.)
- Professional individual information to verify attendance at events – for continuing education credit(s) and/or teacher certification (e.g., PPID)
- Disability requests
- Registration and participation in CSC events and activities
- Response(s) to your emails or online requests for services, or information
- Subscription preferences
- Legislative district
- For presenters only – photograph, resumé or biography
Non-Personal Information We Collect
We collect information that does not directly identify you as you interact with us online, by phone or on paper (“Non-Personal Information”).
The types of non-personal information we collect includes, but is not limited to:
- Website usage (for example, browser information, search terms, number of clicks, cookies, referring/exit pages, date/time stamp, time on our website, pixel tags, and other technologies, demographic information, crash reports, system activity, social media activity and devices information.)
- Services viewed and used
- Computer type, operating system, and platform type
- IP address
- Internet service provider
- Google analytics
Children
The CSC does not collect personal information from and does not market to children under the age of 13 for CSC event registration.
How We Use Your Information
The CSC uses your personal information for the following purposes:
To process transactions.
CSC uses personal information such as name, physical address, telephone number, email address, and entity to engage in interactions with you, including contacting you about your order, donation, subscription, event participation, or membership.
To communicate with you about a meeting, conference, or event.
We may communicate with you about a meeting, conference, or event hosted or co-sponsored by CSC or one of our partners. This may include information about the event’s content, event logistics, payment, updates, and additional information related to the event. The CSC and its conference co-sponsors may contact you after the event about the event, subsequent iterations of the event and related events.
To include you in CSC communications.
CSC will communicate with you, if you are participating in certain activities, such as CSC events, distribution lists, and newsletters. CSC may send you information related to those activities.
To provide support or other services.
At your request, the CSC may use your personal information to provide you with support or other services that you have ordered or requested. The CSC may also use your personal information to respond directly to your requests for ADA accommodations, information, including registrations for newsletters, webinars, or other specific requests.
To provide information based on your interests and respond to your requests.
CSC may use your personal information to provide you with notices of new products and/or services. The CSC may track your usage of products and services.
To provide online forums and social networks.
Information about our services may be available on websites that permit you to participate in interactive discussions, post comments, provide content to a bulletin board or exchange, or engage in networking activities. CSC does not control these websites and the content that users post to these forums or social networks. You should carefully consider whether you want to share personal information on these forums or social networks, then tailor any content you submit in accordance with their terms of use.
To select content, improve quality, and facilitate use of websites.
CSC may use your personal information, including the information gathered as a result of website navigation, electronic protocols and cookies (including third-party cookies) to help create and personalize website content, improve website quality, track marketing campaign responsiveness, evaluate page response rates, conduct research, usability testing, and facilitate your use of our websites.
To protect CSC content and services.
We may use your information to prevent potentially illegal activities and to enforce our terms and conditions. We also use a variety of technological systems to detect and address abnormal activity and to screen content to prevent abuse, such as spam. These efforts may result in a temporary or permanent suspension or termination of some functions for some users.

The CSC uses your non-personal information for the following purposes:

How We Share Your Information
The CSC shares your information for the following purposes:
To share information with third parties to fulfill service requests and to perform business functions.
We share information with third parties to provide services on our behalf, such as data hosting services, payment services, packaging, mailing and delivering services, and customer support and consulting services.
To parties managing or cosponsoring a conference.
We may share Information you provide when registering or participating in a conference managed or co-sponsored by parties, other than or in addition to the CSC. The treatment of such information is further subject to the privacy policies of those parties.
To serve personalized advertising to you.
We may allow advertisers to choose the characteristics of users who will see their advertisements, and we may use any of the non-personally identifiable attributes we have collected to select the appropriate audience for those advertisements. We do not share your information with advertisers without your consent.
To follow-up on your interests.
We share your contact information with the appropriate CSC contractor for further follow-up related to your interests.
To engage with third parties.
CSC may share your personal information with third parties in connection with services that these individuals or entities perform for or with CSC. These third parties are restricted from using this information in any way other than to provide services for CSC or for the collaboration in which they and CSC are contractually engaged. These third parties are carefully selected by CSC and obligated to keep your information secure. From time to time, we may also share your information with third parties whom we think might provide content, products, or services of interest to you.
Please note that CSC conference, meeting or event organizers, co-sponsors, exhibitors, and other third parties may directly request your personal information at their conference booths or presentations. Providing your information to them is optional, and you should review their privacy policies to address your particular needs and concerns about how they will treat your personal information.
To share information required by law.
How You Can Manage the Processing of Your Information
You have the right to control the information we have about you and how we use it in several ways:
- You have the right to review, revise, and correct the personal information that you have provided to CSC by contacting the staff member responsible for the event.
- You have the right to use the unsubscribe method provided in our various communications.
- You have the right to object to receiving marketing materials from us by following the opt-out instructions in our marketing emails.
- You have the right to object to processing your personal information based on your specific situation by contacting us. The CSC will assess your request considering our legal obligations, then provide you a reply in a timely manner.
Linking to Other Internet Websites.
You should be aware that other Internet websites that are linked from the CSC websites or from an CSC email message may contain privacy provisions that differ from the provisions of this privacy notice. To ensure your privacy is protected, we recommend that you review the privacy statements of these other linked websites, applications, or other platforms.
Security – How We Protect Personal Information
The CSIU/CSC implements commercially reasonable security measures to help protect against unauthorized access to or unauthorized alteration, disclosure, or destruction of information. We restrict access to personal information to those who need the information to operate, develop, or improve our services. You may want to review the CSIU and CSC’s Information Protection Policy (#890).
The CSIU/CSC implements appropriate technical, physical, and organizational security measures designed to protect the personal information we possess that provides a level of security appropriate to the risks presented by the processing and nature of the data to be protected. While the CSIU/CSC strives to protect your information, the CSC cannot guarantee or warrant the security of the information you transmit to us. Retention Period
Retention periods of the information vary and are established considering our need to provide your services, our legitimate CSIU/CSC interests, contractor/finder needs. the applicable legal requirements, and the enforcement of CSIU/CSC’s agreements and policies.

In addition to the rights as explained in this privacy notice for CSC Events, residents of some states and countries may be provided different statutory personal information rights.
