When we recognize caregivers’ strengths and support them to build the Strengthening Families Protective Factors, families and children thrive.
Be Strong Parent Cafés provide an environment where parents and family members can build these protective factors through individual deep self-reflection and peer-to-peer learning.
The Strengthening Families™ approach is built on two key beliefs: 1) All families have strengths, and 2) All families need support. The Strengthening Families Protective Factors Framework shifts the focus from “what’s wrong” to “what’s strong” and encourages us to see strengths and promote the development of protective factors that keep families strong.
- Are for parents, by parents – this model was created by parents and encourages family member involvement in planning and implementation.
- Provide safe spaces – parents and family members engage in deep and meaningful conversations.
- Build protective factors – themes and café conversations are guided by the research informed Strengthening Families Protective Factors Framework.
The Be Strong Parent Café Training Institute (PCTI) certifies organizations to conduct Parent Cafés in your organization or community. Organizations send a team of four-six individuals.

The cost to send a team is $3400 and includes materials, meals during the course, and implementation support following the PCTI.
If you are unable to attend the Information Session but are interested in attending the PCTI on March 18-19, please contact Rijelle Kraft.
