What can we do to promote healing and lessen negative impacts?

Healthy Outcomes from Positive Experiences (HOPE) is a new way of seeing and talking about experiences that support children’s growth and development into healthy, resilient adults.

HOPE offers a practical, research-based framework that helps professionals and parents intentionally build the kinds of positive experiences that promote resilience, healing, and healthy development.

HOPE offers a practical, research-based framework that helps professionals and parents intentionally build the kinds of positive experiences that promote resilience, healing, and healthy development.

Grounded in the science of Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs), the HOPE framework demonstrates how supportive relationships, safe environments, meaningful engagement, and opportunities for emotional growth help all children and families thrive while also buffering the effects of adversity and improving long-term outcomes.

HOPE strategies can be integrated into everyday interactions and existing programs — no specialized equipment, curriculum, or clinical background required.

Whether you work in schools, healthcare, early childhood programs, home visiting, child welfare, juvenile justice, or community-based services, this session will provide actionable strategies you can immediately apply in your setting.

In this virtual course, participants will:

  • Explore the research connecting Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs) to long-term health, well-being, and resilience.
  • Understand how PCEs can help mitigate the effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).
  • Learn the four Building Blocks of HOPE and why they matter across child- and family-serving systems.
  • Identify practical ways to partner with parents to foster positive experiences and supportive environments for children, youth, and families.
  • Reflect on how organizations and communities can improve equitable access to the Building Blocks of HOPE.
